Daniel Reynolds: In Motion

22 March - 18 April 2021

Georgia Stoneman is pleased to present Daniel Reynolds: In Motion, the first presentation of the artist’s work with the gallery. Working predominantly with stoneware across relief, sculpture and mobile, the exhibition includes a series of previously unexhibited reliefs which mark a new direction for the artist.

This body of work is representative of the themes which Daniel has been developing for several years and highlights his ability to easily transition between specialisms; favouring the technique of hand building, his process-led approach pushes his practice to constantly evolve, each piece informing the next. The ‘Propellor’ reliefs presented here are the unconstructed ‘flat-pack’ versions of the elements which make up his mobiles, and the ‘Black Line, White Square' reliefs are an extension of the Grid Abstraction sculptures, which read like drawings in space.

Daniel’s work is informed by the Modernist movements of the second half of the 20th century, geometry and clean lines, combined with evidence of the artist’s hand are key. He plays with light, space and a juxtaposition of texture and opacity to establish a visual balance in each of his works.

He has exhibited work at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, at the Amparo Museum, Puebla, Mexico and The New Art Centre, Roche Court in Wiltshire, as well as commissions for luxury hotels and private residences across the world.
