Dylan Bowen

Biography

Dylan Bowen is a contemporary ceramic artist whose expressive vessels combine traditional slipware techniques with a distinctive modern aesthetic. Raised at Shebbear Pottery in Devon, he trained with his father, the acclaimed potter Clive Bowen, before studying at Camberwell School of Art.

Working primarily in earthenware, Bowen is known for bold slip decoration, energetic mark-making and distinctive forms. Rooted in British slipware traditions, his work embraces experimentation and spontaneity, with vibrant surfaces, fluid patterns and expressive lines.

His ceramics blur the boundary between functional pottery and sculpture. Balancing control and chance, he allows the movement of clay and slip to shape each piece, creating works that are dynamic and individual.

A Fellow of the Craft Potters Association, Bowen has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. His work is recognised for its originality, craftsmanship and exuberant celebration of the handmade object.
